Our History

Although the Ramblers Association was created as long ago as 1^st January 1935, it was not until 1979 that our group, Tonbridge and Malling, was registered as KT04 of the Kent area of Ramblers. We have a convoluted history which is described in more detail in an article by Dave Wetton which appears in the Members' section of this website. Our History

The inaugural meeting of the Tonbridge & Malling Ramblers group took place on Friday 16^th November 1979 at Borough Green village hall. The first committee comprised David Thornewell (Chairman), Keith Richardson (Vice Chairman), Sylvia Richardson (Secretary) and Vince Fowler (Treasurer), John Aloway, Mary Hillyard and Mr Dodge as auditor. Since then we have had five more chairs - Mike Temple, followed by Roy Chapman, Dave StPier, Dave Wetton and, since 2017, Neil Whittall.
